Dr Jennifer Fayad

Head of Research in Clinical Orthopaedics, Liroms 

Dr Jennifer Fayad is Head of Research in Clinical Orthopaedics at LIROMS, where she develops clinical research projects in surgical orthopaedics and sports medicine, with an emphasis on biomechanics, personalized medicine, standardising clinical pathways and supporting long-term patient follow-up.She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Lebanese American University, an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Surrey, and a PhD in Health and Technology completed as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher within the SPINNER training network, based at the National Center for Spinal Disorders in Budapest and the University of Bologna. Her doctoral work combined motion analysis and radiographic imaging to assess spinal stability and mobility before and after spine fusion, with a focus on understanding proximal junctional kyphosis.Following her PhD, Jennifer joined the Luxembourg Institute of Health as a Clinical Biomechanics Expert, responsible for gait and running analyses of healthy, pathological and athletic populations in close collaboration with LIROMS and the Luxembourg Institute for High Performance in Sports, and validating wearable smart insole technology against gold-standard motion capture systems.Her current research focuses on the biomechanical assessment of surgical orthopaedics and sports medicine patients, with an emphasis on personalized medicine, modelling, and the digitalisation of clinical practice, particularly knee osteotomy outcomes, ACL reconstruction outcomes in young patients, and the standardization of functional and gait-based outcome measures.
