Dr Alexis Lion, PhD

Dr. Alexis Lion studied sport sciences and achieved his PhD in Life and Health Sciences at the Université Henri Poincaré (Nancy, France). He took then a post-doc position at the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory from the Luxembourg Institute of Health (Luxembourg, Luxembourg) and realized an inventory of the therapeutic physical activity offer for people with chronic diseases. This project was supported by the Œuvre National de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte.
Dr. Lion currently works as the senior manager at the association of sports groups for cardiac patients (Association Luxembourgeoise des Groupes Sportifs pour Cardiaques) and at the health sport federation for people with chronic diseases (Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Associations de Sport de Santé) based in Strassen (Luxembourg). He is currently coordinating and promoting the therapeutic physical activities of the federation’s members.
Beside his administrative and advocacy activities, he is also involved in different research fields such as neuroscience, otorhinolaryngology, sports medicine, sports sciences, and public health. His current and main research area is physical activity promotion, especially within the health care settings.
Dr. Lion is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the HEPA Europe network and his particularly involved in the HEPA Europe working group on HEPA promotion in health care settings.
