To deliver scientific, economic and societal value for Luxembourg by performing research and development in the fields of sports medicine, sports science, sports surgery and sports rehabilitation, summarized as sports-related research.
To generate new knowledge of mechanisms, epidemiology, diagnostics and treatment of sports-related human injuries and diseases, health benefits of physical activity, as well as human performance across the lifespan and for all levels of sports practice.
Since 2019 LIROMS is the representative of Luxembourg (in a french-speaking consortium together with the INSEP/France, the University of Geneva/Switzerland, the University of Liège/Belgium and the INS of Québec/Canada) as the worldwide 11th Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
