Dr Caroline Mouton

Dr. Caroline Mouton studied biomedical engineering (Nancy, France) and achieved her PhD at the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory from the Luxembourg Institute of Health. She defended her thesis at the Medical Faculty of Saarland University (Germany) on multidirectional knee laxity measurements in healthy subjects and ACL (anterior cruciate ligament)-injured patients.
Dr Mouton currently works as the scientific coordinator of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery (Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg). She is in charge of organising clinical research from idea to publication. Hence, an important part of her work consists in conducting clinical studies and educating young clinicians. Other responsibilities include standardisation of patients follow up, certifications and partnerships.


With ESSKA, Dr Mouton is the current chair of the Basic Science Committee and member of the Scientific Committee of the 19th and 20th ESSKA Congresses (Milan, 2021; Paris, 2022). She is also an editorial board member of the KSSTA (Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy) and JEO (Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics), the official clinical and basic science journals of ESSKA.
