3RD SPORTS INJURY PREVENTION SYMPOSIUM

ReFORM will organize on October 13 its 3rd edition of the Symposium on Injury Prevention in Sport in partnership with SportS2 (Service Pluridisciplinaire-Orthopédie-Rééducation-Traumatologie-Santé du Sportif) at the CHU of Liège (Belgium). This Symposium will be prolonged by the SportS2 Symposium (on October 14), which is organized each year in Liège on different topics. This year, the topic of the SportS2 Symposium will be “Racquet sports“. The target audience will be composed of doctors, physiotherapists, S&C coachs, coachs and students, who wants to learn more about injury prevention in sport and racket sports. Program

Lecture: “Performance optimisation in Strength & Conditioning for Luxembourg” – Martin Zawieja & Maike Czasche – 25 October

Upcoming lecture on 25 October at 17:30 in the amphitheatre of “d’Coque”. The event is free to attend and registration is not required. Please note that there will be no livestream for this lecture. Guest speakers, Martin Zawieja and Maike Czasche, are both experts in the field of strength and conditioning at LIHPS. Martin Zawieja, a former German weightlifter who competed between 1983 and 1992, brings considerable professional experience to the table. He competed in the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics in the super heavyweight category, finishing third and ninth respectively. Martin’s achievements further include third place in the snatch at the 1991 World Weightlifting Championships and winning three national titles in 1984, 1990 and 1991. Following his competitive career, he studied sport and graduated in 1995. He was head coach of the German junior and women’s national weightlifting teams and coached various national teams in handball, football and wrestling, among others. Martin is a visiting lecturer at the universities of Frankfurt/Main, Heidelberg and Cologne, author of six different books on strength training and has been a consultant and trainer at LIHPS since 2018. Maike Czasche completed her Masters in strength and conditioning science at St Mary’s University, Twickenham in 2013. Prior to joining LIHPS in 2021, she was a senior strength and conditioning trainer for high performance swimming at the London Aquatic Centre and a strength and conditioning scientist at the « Olympiastützpunkt Berlin ». The lecture will be given in German and is primarily aimed at coaches and athletes, but is also open to the general public. The presentation itself will last about 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. We hope to see you there!
