Discover LIROMS projects

Over the past year, LIROMS has undergone a significant structural development aimed at strengthening the clarity, coherence, and overall impact of its research activities. The institute is now organised into three departments

  • the Department of Clinical Biomechanics, led by Dr Tiago Neto (PhD);

  • the Department of Orthopaedics, under the responsibility of Dr Jennifer Fayad (PhD);

  • the Department of Sports Medicine and Sports Sciences, headed by Dr Camille Tooth (PhD).

This new organisational framework is designed to provide clearer scientific leadership within each core discipline, enhance methodological rigour, and facilitate strategic planning of research priorities. Going forward, all LIROMS research projects and scientific programmes will be structured according to this departmental organisation. At the same time, strong emphasis will be placed on cross-departmental collaboration, whenever scientific questions require complementary expertise. This approach aims to preserve and further strengthen LIROMS’ integrated and multidisciplinary model, combining biomechanics, orthopaedics, and sports medicine to address complex clinical and performance-related challenges. Ultimately, this structure will support the development of high-quality, translational research with direct relevance for athletes, patients, and stakeholders in the sporting ecosystem, while fostering innovation, knowledge transfer, and international collaboration.
